An action of protest was held in front of the Hungarian Consulate building in Madrid against extradition and pardoning of Ramil Safarov, the Azerbaijani officer who viciously murdered sleeping Armenian officer in 2004.
The picketers were condemning the mean step by Baku and Budapest. The activists distributed leaflets telling about the vicious murder of the Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan. After the rally, Hungarian consul in Spain received the Armenian community representatives, who
handed him a letter urging Budapest to admit his mistake and take relevant measures to restore reputation of democratic and civilized
Hungary. The Consul expressed regret on behalf of the Hungarian Government. Another protest action was held in Paris. Later today,
rallies are scheduled in front of the Hungarian and Azerbaijani Embassies in Canada.
Extradition of Ramil Safarov made Armenia suspend diplomatic relations with Hungary. The Hungarian Court sentenced the murderer of
the Armenian officer for life in jail. However, after extradition, Safarov was pardoned and promoted by the Azerbaijani president.
