The First European Games declared open!

According to the news agency Trend, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has declared the the first European Games open.

"I declare Baku 2015 First European Games open", - said the head of state.

As many as 68,000 spectators have gathered on Baku Olympic Stadium. Over 300 creative groups from 28 countries and 1,000 people from 34 countries were involved in the organization of the ceremony.

The ceremony is being attended by the official representatives of various countries, including the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russia - Vladimir Putin, Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko, as well as the presidents of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Serbia, Montenegro. The opening ceremony was also attended by the prime ministers of the various states and other officials.

The Baku 2015 European Games will last till June 28. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
