Armenians throughout the world on Sunday (24 April) mark Armenian Genocide Memorial Day. It is held annually to commemorate the victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915 when large numbers of Armenians perished as a result of Ottoman policy in Anatolia.
In the Armenian capital, Yerevan, President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan and other government officials, visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
The President, Prime Minister and other officials laid flowers at the Eternal Flame.
Other events are taking place across the world among Armenian communities.
