OSCE/ODIHR to send 378 observers to monitor Georgian parliamentary elections

OSCE/ODIHR will send 350 short-term and 28 long-term observers for Georgia's October 31 parliamentary elections, according to the Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani.

On October 31, the citizens of Georgia will elect 150-member parliament through a mixed electoral system with 120 deputies elected through proportional-party lists and 30 lawmakers elected as majoritarians from single-mandate constituencies.

The country is scheduled to shift to the fully proportional electoral system starting from 2024.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NDI (National Democratic Institute) and IRI (International Republican Institute) will observe the elections virtually, through close cooperation with their local partner organisations.
