Armenia and Kazakhstan strengthen bilateral ties

The President of Armenia will make an official visit to Kazakhstan on Tuesday (15 October) to discuss further strengthening of Kazakh-Armenian cooperation with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders will discuss cooperation in various political and economic areas, such as trade and migration, as well as enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Gevorg Melikyan, founder of the Armenian Institute for Resilience & Statecraft, stresses that peace in the South Caucasus is essential for strengthening trade routes between Armenia and Kazakhstan, as key transit routes and supply chains pass through the region, linking Central Asia with the North Caucasus.

The Kazakh president earlier this year assured both Armenia and Azerbaijan of his willingness to provide a platform for peace negotiations because "it is also an important issue for Kazakhstan, I believe, because Kazakhstan needs a stable South Caucasus". The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan welcomed this initiative.
