British Ambassador to Armenia:

Great Britain is concerned over tension in the relations of Armenia and Turkey, British Ambassador to Armenia Katherine Leach told ArmInfo when commenting on the French Senate bill criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide.

The Ambassador said Great Britain's role is to try to help the parties achieve mutual understanding by all means possible. "Great Britain as a country having friendly relations with Turkey would like Turkey and EU to have perfect relations with other EU countries and Armenia. It is a key priority for. One of the EU's membership conditions to Turkey is good relations with the neighbor-states," the Ambassador said. She said Britain will support any process that may normalize the relations of Armenia and Turkey.

To note, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has recently declared that France should suspend its mediation efforts as co-chair of the OSCE MG. For his part, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbnadian said that Turkey cannot influence the format of discussions on the Karabakh conflict, especially through ultimate suggestions.
