Yerevan celebrates birthday with music and a hot air balloon festival

Yerevan celebrated what officials say is its 2799th birthday on Saturday (14 October), with music and a colourful hot air balloon festival. Perfect wheather added to the inducement for citizens to go out on the streets and celebrate the event, with thousands congregating in the city centre for open air concerts.

This year's Yerevan Festival was held under the slogan: "Yerevan, City of love".
