Yemen’s Houthis have again threatened commercial traffic in the Red Sea, as tensions in the region continue to escalate.
The deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, alongside other US warships described by Donald Trump as part of a “big armada,” has heightened concerns over a possible American military strike against Iran.
The group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, stressed that “any American attack and aggression in support of the Israeli enemy against Iran cannot be met with silence, as it serves the goal of enabling the Israeli enemy to gain control over the entire region.”
The Houthis halted their attacks on international shipping after the Gaza peace plan went into effect on October 10. That understanding currently remains in effect.
Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah paramilitary group similarly threatened “total war” if any attack targeted Iran.
