Tbilisi prepares for new year celebrations

The Georgian capital, Tbilisi, is en fete in preparation for New Year celebrations. The festive lights were switched on, on Wednesday (25 December). Georgia celebrates Chritmas according to the Orthodox calander on 6 January.

Festivities will centre around First Republic Square and Orbeliani Square, which has been recently renovated. A Christmas village has been set up. Street markets are also in operation and several musical performances are planned.
