A number of senior officials in the self-declared Nagrono-Karabakh Republic have submitted their resignatuon to the de facto president, following anti government protests in the territory over the weekend.
Those resigining include a State Minister, the head of the police, and the head and deputy head of the security services.
The resignation of the heads of the law enforcement bodies was demanded by protestors following an incident in Stepanakert on Friday between civilians and members of the territory's security service.
State Minister Arayik Harutyunyan also resigned on Wednesday, but in a statement he made it clear that his resignation was not demanded by protestors, and he was resigning so that he could play a more active political role. Armenian sources say that Harutyunyan's replacement is finance minister Grigoriy Martirosyan, a 39-years-old technocrat, who had a stint working in the Armenian government from 1999 to 2007. Replacement for the law enforcement officers came from within their respective agencies.
