Georgia and Azerbaijan agree defence cooperation deal

Georgia and Azerbaijan have agreed on a defence cooperation deal on Monday (24 April).

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, met and signed the deal in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.

According to press releases from the two sides, the officials discussed bilateral defence cooperation and participation in international training and educational initiatives, deepening ties between their offices, the interoperability of their defence forces, as well as security issues of the Black Sea region.

Burchuladze and Hasanov also discussed the prospect of bilateral and trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, as well as increasing the intensity of joint exercises and working meetings.
