Coronavirus can be deadly to those who are most vulnerable

The Impact of #COVID-19 on refugees could be disastrous. According to UNHCR, no cases were detected in refugee camps as of 23 March. Refugees, along with migrants and asylum seekers, are directly in the path of the coronavirus storm as social distancing and hygiene are near impossible in camps.

"Refugees, whether inside or outside camps, tend to live in crowded shelters, which poses a serious challenge to one of the basic preventive measures: Social distancing," said the UNHCR senior communication advisor and spokeswoman in Dubai.

The provision of basic needs and training staff can save many lives. The UNHCR has issued an urgent appeal for $33 million to support its efforts in providing protection to such communities.
