Azerbaijan raises flag in settlements that had been under Armenian control for decades

On Saturday (3 October) Azerbaijan confirmed that its  troops have taken control over a number of settlements that had been under Armenian control since the 1992-94 Karabakh war

In the afternoon Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev tweeted that the town of Madagaiz in the northern part of Nagorno-Karabakh had been taken and had been renamed Sugovusan

 

Aliyev later also tweeted that settlements to the south of Nagorno-Karabakh had been taken.

Azerbaijani media later showed the Azerbaijani flag flying over Madagiz, in the far north of Nagorno-Karabakh
