Armenia celebrated the 28th anniversary of its independence on Saturday (21 September). Most of the official festivities were this year held in Armenia's second city, Gyumri, where the countries political, religious and civic leaders gathered, together with diplomats representing foreign countries.
The main event was a ceremony to award 13 citizens with the title' Hero of our times'.
Speaking at the ceremony prime minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia's future depended on one person, and that person was each individual Armenian,who had to do the best for the country.
From the ceremony Pashinyan left straight to the United States on a working visit.
