The Georgian and Abkhazian authorities will soon resume meetings of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), the first such meeting for four years. The next IPRM will take place on May 27, local media is reporting.
Representatives of Georgia, Abkhazia, the OSCE and the European Union will take part in the meetings, which began in the summer of 2009, a year after the war between Russia and Georgia. However they have been suspended since April 2012 because representatives in Sukhumi disagreed with the framework.
The Russian foreign ministry has also welcomed the decision, as has Vyacheslav Chirikba, foreign minister of the self-declared Republic of Abkhazian.
