Expert: "Recognition of NKR's sovereignty by Massachusetts will make no significant changes in Karabakh peace process"

Recognition of NKR's sovereignty by Massachusetts is quite a positive process that hints at USA's desire to recognize NKR, expert Stepan Safaryan told ArmInfo.

"No matter how big was the role of the Armenian lobby in that decision. The most important thing is that such a resolution was adopted," he said.

Safaryan thinks that recognition of NKR's independence by Massachusetts legislative body is a precedent and other States may follow Massachusetts' example. Nevertheless, the expert thinks that it will make no significant changes in the Karabakh peace process.

To recall, on August 6 the House of Representatives of the State of Massachussetts, USA, adopted a resolution on recognition of Karabakh's independence. The document calls on the U.S. President Barack Obama and the Congress to support the sovereignty and independence of the NKR.
