EU Special Representative Salber meets Aliev in Baku.

The European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Ambassador Herbert Salber, on Wednesday met in Baku with President Ilham Aliev of Azerbaijani. The envoy later also met the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

The main topic under discussion according to Azerbaijani government sources was the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its resolution. The sides exchanged views on the current situation on the front line and in the negotiations mediated by the OSCE Minsk Process. Salber reiterated the readiness of the European Union to contribute to the resolution of the conflict.

In the meantime in Paris, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with diplomats from France, the United States and Russia who chair the OSCE Minsk Group. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. The US representative Ambassador James Warlickj later tweeted that "Armenia is open to opportunites for NK peace". Warlick also said that a meeting with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister will take place today.
