Aliev meets with Head of BP in London. The Azerbaijani leader is currently in the UK on a working visit.

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is on a working visit to the United Kingdom, met with Chief Executive of BP Robert Dudley on August 6.

APA reports that they expressed satisfaction with the long-term successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and BP. They exchanged view on the second phase of development of Shah Deniz gas field and the other implemented projects.

They expressed confidence in further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and BP. The President and his family also attended events at the London Olympics where Azerbaijani sportsmen have won a number of medals.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has called for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Georgia in a declaration adopted during the Assembly’s 32nd annual session held in Porto, Portugal on 3 July. The declaration expressed alarm over the developments since the parliamentary elections held on 26 October last year including reports of arbitrary detentions, violence and ill-treatment of protesters, opposition leaders and media representatives, as documented by civil society organizations and the Public Defender of Georgia. The declaration also called for new elections to be held in Georgia.
