"The Armenian position on Karabakh is strenghtened by the dialogue between the Government and Opposition", Ter-Petrosyan

The first President of Armenia, and leader of the opposition "Armenian  National Congress" (ANC), Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that the dialogue between the authorities and the opposition in Armenia had strenghtened the country's negotiating position on the Karabakh conflict.

Speaking at an opposition rally in Yerevan, Ter Petrosyan said that the dialogue between the ANC and the government coalition was the most significant event in the recent political history of the country. Ter-Petrosyan said that neither the authorities, nor the ANC, nor the people had gained any tangible benefit from the dialogue so far, but that the country did. "The credibility of Armenia as a civilised country immensely increased on the international arena. Owing to the dialogue Armenia gained stronger position in the process of the Karabakh conflict settlement. That is what we kept repeating to the authorities for three years, but they refused to understand, which is why the settlement process reached its current dissapointing state", Ter Petrosyan told his supporters who were gathered in Yerevan on Tuesday afternoon despite the heat which exceeded 40 celsius.

Supporters sang Freddy Mercury's song "We are the chamnpions" at the end of the meeting. The next ANC rally will be held in September.
