Armenian general dismissed by President Sargsyan

A high-ranking Armenian general has been dismissed by President Sargsyan, weeks after three other generals were relieved of their duties.

Melsik Chilingaryan was chief of the department of arms control for the Armenian armed forces. According to Armenpress, the decree was signed on May 20, though the decision was not announced until Monday.

Three other generals met the same fate in late-April, shortly after four days of heavy fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the worst for two decades.

They were Deputy Defense Minister Alik Mirzabekyan, head of the logistics department, Major General Komitas Muradyan, chief of the communication services, and Major General Arshak Karapetyan, head of intelligence of the general staff.
