Armenia marks genocide anniversary

Armenia and Armenian communities throughout the world on Sunday marked the 101st anniversary of the events of 1915, characterised as the Armenian genocide. 

President Serzh Sargsyan led dignitaries at a ceremony at the genocide memorial in Yerevan as Armenian communities throughout the world marked the anniversary of atrocities committed in Anatolia in 1915. The President laid a wreath at the monument.

Sargsyan was accompanied by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II;

The Catholicos, together with other clergy, recited the Lord's Prayer.

Thousands of people, including members of the diplomatic corps, diaspora Armenians, visitors and local residents visited the memorail throughout the day. Activities are also being held in other parts of the world.
