Flooding causes havoc in central Tbilisi.

Flooding after heavy rainfall have caused havoc and deaths in the centre of the Georgian Capital Tbilisi. The River Vere overflowed and flooded the Vake-Saburtalo Motorway crushing cars and trees.

Eight people are reported to have died, and their is a possibility that the number of victims will increase since a number of people are reported missing.

The flooding also hit Tbilisi Zoo where a round thirty animals, including lions, tigers and bears have escaped. Some have subsequently been recaptured or killed due to the threat that they posed to citizens, but others continue to roam the streets. Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili called on citizens to remain in their homes.
