LINKS Europe and the Center for Analysis of International Relations and Multilateralism (AIR Centre) hosted in Baku, on Friday, 4 September, a discussion on the theme "Europe-Azerbaijan relations: learning from the past; building for the future”.
A distinguished audience, including officials, MPs, Ambassadors, diplomats and think-tank leaders attended the event.
Dr Dennis Sammut, Director, LINKS Europe Foundation, The Hague. Ambassador, Dr Farid Shafiyev, Chairman, AIR Center - Center for Analysis of International Relations and Multiculturalism (Baku), made welcome regards on behalf of the organisers.
Keynote remarks were made by Ambassador Marijana Kujundzic, Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan and Ambassador Elshad Iskanderov, Ambassador-at-large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
This was followed by a dynamic questions and comments session during which many if the Azerbaijani participants present made comments and put questions.
In the second session there were focused presentations by Dr Anar Valiyev from ADA University, who spoke on the acadmic dimension of European-Azerbaijan relations; Dr Vasif Husseynov from AIR Center, who spoke about political relations; Roza Bayramli from AIR Centre, who spoke about connectivity; and Aykhan Gadashov from the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication who discussed Azerbaijan-Europe ecenomic relations.
The meeting was chaired by Maximiliaan van Lange, Counsellor, LINKS Europe Foundation.
