Turkish analyst:

Azerbaijan and Iran reached a modus vivendi, Burcu Gultekin Punsmann, PhD, Senior Foreign Policy Analyst, TEPAV, told ArmInfo, when commenting on the initiative of a group of Azeri deputies claiming the territory of the Northern Iran as the so-called Southern Azerbaijan.

"Iran matters in terms of transit etc. Iran is too big for Azerbaijan. By the way, Iranian Azeris are said to be very loyal to the regime," she said.

To recall, Azerbaijani parliamentarians made a statement at the first session of Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan suggesting renaming Azerbaijan like a split state into Northern Azerbaijan. Some parliamentarian urged the authorities to announce a constitutional referendum on the territorial configuration of the country.
