Observers from the OSCE will monitor Georgia’s parliamentary in October, it was announced on Wednesday. The organisation’s secretary general, Lamberto Zannier, responded to a request from the Georgian prime minister for increased OSCE involvement.
“To ensure transparency of the procedure, the prime minister expects the OSCE observers to arrive at the earliest opportunity,” Kvirikashvili’s office said in a statement.
The two men met in Tbilisi on Wednesday, where Prime Minister Kvirikashvili also discussed with the OSCE head the recent shooting of a Georgian man near the border with Abkhazia.
The conversation also touched upon the aspects of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the developments in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Zannier also gave his support to Georgia’s visa liberalisation process with the European Union. Tbilisi will host an OSCE parliamentary session 1-5 July.
