Another Azerbaijani soldier killed in the Karabakh conflict zone

Azerbaijan has reported that one of its soldiers was killed on Sunday by Armenian fire in  the Tartar region in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. The soldier was named as Elgar Vugar Khalilov. The exact circumstances of the killing were not reported, but an Azerbaijani Defence Ministry statement blamed what it called "Armenian provocations".

There was a swift response by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. It describes the killing as another bloody act committed by Armenia, by supporters of the war and their patrons, on the eve of the upcoming regular meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group. It adds that the killing serves to undermine the talks to resolve the conflict and increases tension in the region.

It is also emphasised that full responsibility for this lies with Armenia and its leadership.
