Six Russian officers killed in South Ossetia crash

Six Russian military officers were killed on Thursday following a road accident in South Ossetia, local sources are reporting.

Sixteen others were injured in the incident, which took place along the road between Tskhinvali and Kanchaveti at around 8.40am local time.

The bus, which was taking part in a joint training exercise between Russian and South Ossetian military forces, fell into a ravine after a fault with the braking system, Interpress News reported.

Those injured have been hospitalized, while military personnel are arriving in South Ossetia from Russia to assist further, Russian defence minister Sergei Shogou confirmed in Moscow.
