In a television broadcast, on Wednesday 13 July, the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed laid out his vision for the future of the country. Speaking at the end of a period of mourning after the death of the previous Head of State, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, third president of the UAE highlighted issues that are key and relevant to Emirati society laying special emphasis on the country's youth and their future.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also referred to the topic of energy security and said that the UAE promises to continue serving as a reliable provider of energy and to drive global economic growth. The president also highlighted that diversification of the nation's economy and said that this will be a key strategic focus of the state noting the vast number of diverse nationalities that live in the UAE and contribute to this goal.
He pledged that the country would continue to provide humanitarian aid and extend assistance to communities in need globally. He said the UAE would also continue to build on its reputation by establishing strategic partnerships with other countries.
But during his speech, Sheikh Mohammed kept coming back to a central theme, namely the responsibility of the state to its youth. and the focus on human development. “Our primary goal is the UAE and its people,” he added.
