Poetry about love was an important cultural element in ancient Egypt. There are many poetry examples that have received the attention of international poets such as Walt Whitman, Ezra Pound and others who transferred ancient Egyptian love poems to modern European languages. Meanwhile, the Egyptian ministries of education and culture focused more on other eras such as the Mamluk or Fatimid period.

On his third and last day of his historic visit to Iraq, the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis on Sunday morning, arrived at the Hosh al-Bieaa centre in Mosul where he prayed, amidst the ruins of war and along with the people of Iraq, for all the victims of war in the country and throughout the Middle East.

The leader of the Roman Catholic Church, has arrived in Iraq on a visit that is being described as both pastoral and official. Pope Francis will spend four days in the Middle Eastern nation during which he will travel north and south as “a pilgrim seeking peace, fraternity and reconciliation”, as he himself has said.

Intensive diplomatic activity as efforts continue to end Yemeni war

Reuters reported on Wednesday (3 March) that US officials have met Yemen's Houthis in efforts to end the war. The meeting, which has not been announced officially, allegedly happened between US envoy Lenderking and the Houthis’ chief negotiator Mohammed Abdusalam in the Omani capital Muscat on 26 February.

Turkey hopes Black Sea gas will satisfy most of its domestic demand by 2028

Turkey hopes that newly discovered gas fields in the Black Sea will by 2028 yield output that will help it satisfy its increasing demand for gas. In 2019, Turkey’s total gas import bill was around $12 billion. The country is currently conducting further seismic analysis activities, soon to be extended  to a 10,000-square-meter area in the Black Sea
