President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia is attempting to drag out negotiations aimed at resolving the war against Ukraine, as trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia continue in Geneva.
Zelenskyy said the meetings held on Monday 17 February were difficult and accused Moscow of delaying progress that, in his view, could already have reached a final stage. He said he had instructed the Ukrainian delegation to do everything possible to ensure the talks remain productive and increase the chances of achieving peaceful solutions.
The President thanked the United States side for its attention to detail and patience in discussions with the Russian delegation. He also stressed that Europe’s participation in the negotiation process is critically important for the successful implementation of any agreements that may be reached.
Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that the Geneva talks had "got stuck", adding that the reason was the positions presented by Russia's chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky.
