SOCAR takes ownership of one of Turkey's largest container terminals

The Azerbaijani State Oil Company - SOCAR, has bought Turkey's largest container terminal in the Aegean region from the Danish company AP Moller-Maersk. The transfer of ownership was made at the end of 2018.

The terminal, located in Aliaga, near the city of Izmir has an annual capacity of 1.3 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent). The terminal will be known as Petlim Terminals.

A subsidiary of AP Moeller-Maersk, APM Terminals, will continue operating the terminal.

The terminal is the latest investment of SOCAR in Turkey where it also owns a petrochemical complex and an oil refinery among other assets.
