77.92% of Russians backed the constitutional amendments put forward by the government, that will among other things enable Vladimir Putin to remain president until 2036.
With 100% of ballots counted, the number of those voting against was around 21.27%.
The turnout at the nationwide vote on the amendments to the Russian Constitution stood at 67.97%, according to data provided by Russia's Central Election Commission as of 12:00 Moscow time on Thursday (2 July).
