Lavrov: "Life will put everything in its place"

Moscow can see Western countries' reluctance to communicate on an equal footing on various platforms but is calm about it, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday (4 February). Lavrov who is currently on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan was speaking at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in the capital Bishkek

The Russian news agency TASS said Lavrov regretted that Russian calls for building contacts between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the European Commission, as well as between the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the European Union, and between the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and NATO were not being heeded. "We can see that our Western colleagues are reluctant to communicate on an equal footing on various platforms," he said. "We are calm about it. Arrogance and a sense of superiority never made anyone more attractive," Lavrov noted.

"There will come a time when life will put everything in its place," the Russian top diplomat added.

Lavrov is visiting Bishkek to prepare for the official visit of president Putin to the Central Asian republic, scheduled for 1 March. On Monday, Lavrov also met with the President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

Russia attacks Kyiv with 800 drones on Sunday morning

Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital on Sunday morning (7 September)  hitting the building of the Cabinet of Ministers. There are a number of civilian casualties Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenco has officially confirmed that the Cabinet building in Kyiv was damaged in the Russian attack early this morning - the first time the building has been hit. The BBC, citing the Ukrainian air force, said that a record number of drones and missiles were launched by Russia in the latest nightly attack. Ukraine's air force says Russia launched 805 drones and 13 missiles in its overnight attack. Of those, 751 were shot down, the air force says. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenco wrote on social media: "The enemy terrorizes our people across the country every day"  The BBC says it is very rare for Russian missiles and drones to hit right in the city centre like this, because of the concentration of air defence in the area. This time, it seems they were overwhelmed.
