EU Envoy meets Armenian President

The European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Ambassador Herbert Salber, on Wednesday met in Yerevan with the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.According to the press service of the Armenian president the sides discussed issues of regional security and stability, the current stage of the Karabakh conflict settlement, current issues and future efforts to advance the peace process, as well as issues related to Armenia-EU cooperation.

The same sources said that the Armenian President once again stressed that Armenia highly appreciates the EU's balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as the commitment to create a favorable climate for a comprehensive settlement.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly calls for Release of Political Prisoners in Georgia

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has called for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Georgia in a declaration adopted during the Assembly’s 32nd annual session held in Porto, Portugal on 3 July. The declaration expressed alarm over the developments since the parliamentary elections held on 26 October last year including reports of arbitrary detentions, violence and ill-treatment of protesters, opposition leaders and media representatives, as documented by civil society organizations and the Public Defender of Georgia. The declaration also called for new elections to be held in Georgia.
