Aliev and Lefort review situation around Karabakh conflict. EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus concludes latest round of visits region.

EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Philippe Lefort, on Friday (25 July) met in Baku with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev. During the meeting the two sides reviewed the situation around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and the conflict resolution process. This was the latest visit of the EUSR to the region. He had earlier this month also visited Yerevan for meetings with the Armenian leadership.

Today (10 October), the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado for the Nobel Peace Prize. Machado was among 338 nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize and has become its 20th female laureate.
