Karabakh to be the focus of a meeting in the European Parliament today

Members of the European Parliament Evgeni Kirilov Vyatutas Landsbergis and Charles Tannock will today host a meeting in the European Parliament during which the contribution of the European Union to the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict will be discussed. The meeting is co-hosted by the five member organisations of the European Partnership for the peaceful resolution of the conflict over Nagorno Karabakh - Conciliation Resources, International Alert, Conflict Management Intiative Kvina til Kvina and LINKS.
 
The guest speakers will be the new EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort and John Kjaer, the Head of the Eastern Partnership Division in the European External Action Service.

An exhibition of photos will accompany the event, and  a number of short films will be screened.

Chinese using Linkedin to recruit agents in UK

An alert issued to MPs, peers and parliamentary staff by security services identified two LinkedIn profiles, which it says are used on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS). It says they act as "civilian recruitment head-hunters", targeting individuals working in British politics to solicit "insider insights". UK Security minister Dan Jarvis has said the government will not tolerate "covert and calculated" attempts to interfere with the UK's sovereign affairs, after MI5 warned MPs of the risk from Chinese spies. Jarvis announced a package of measures in the House of Commons to tackle espionage threats to the UK.
