Developments around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and conflict settlement process were discussed on Tuesday (3 November) during a meeting between the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and the visiting European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Ambassador Herbert Salber. According to the Press Office of the Armenian President, during the meeting "Serzh Sargsyan stressed that today it is important, more than ever, the maintenance of the EU's balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as the fulfillment of its commitment to creating a favorable environment for a comprehensive settlement of the conflict"
The Armenian President touched upon the situation following his previous meeting with Herbert Salber about four months ago and noted that in that brief period of time, tensions have been seriously exacerbated in the region, "posing an immediate threat to the security of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenian bordering regions".
Also present for the meeting was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian and other Armenian officials and EU diplomats.
