10 February: South Ossetian opposition leader Alla Dzhioyeva was hospitalized late Thursday after suffering an apparent stroke a day before she planned to declare herself president of the breakaway Georgian region (Kommersant)

According to reports in the Russian media the South Ossetian opposition leader collapsed when she was being arrested by security officials who wanted to take her to Vladikafkaz for questioning.
