Belarusian authorities said on Friday (14 October) that Russian military troops will start arriving in the country. The deputy chief of the Belarusian Armed Forces General Staff Viktar Tumar said in a statement that "in the coming days," Russian troops that are part of the group will start arriving.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree formally stating that Ukraine will refuse to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while still leaving open the prospect of talks with Russia under a different president.
The decree, signed on Tuesday (4 October), officially formalises Zelensky’s comments on Friday (30 September) that Ukraine is ready for dialogue “but with another president of Russia”.
The Somali government announced on Monday (3 October) that a joint drone airstrike has killed Abdullahi Nadir, a top al-Shabab militant in southern Somalia, near the coastal town of Haramka. Since 2012, Nadir had been one of the seven leaders on whom the United States had placed a bounty of $3m for his capture.
