Yerevan prepares to welcome La Francophonie

Armenia will this week host the summit of the heads of state and government of La Francophonie, the organisation that brings together countries that promote the French language, and co-operation between them. The organisation, that was set up in 1970, now brings together 58 full member states, most of who have French as one of their official languages. There are also 26 observer countries. The summit, which takes place every two years, brings together the heads of state and government. Among those arriving in Yerevan for the summit will be French president, Emanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister. Justion Trudeau.

Preparatory meetings for the summit opened on Sunday. The 105th session of the permanent council of La Francophonie convened in Yerevan to prepare the agenda of the summit.

This is the biggest international meeting ever held in Armenia, given the number of heads of state and government attending.
