A new round of peace negotiations in a trilateral format between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia has begun in Geneva, according to Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine and head of the Ukrainian delegation.
Umierov said the talks are taking place with the involvement of the United States and with Switzerland facilitating the meeting. He added that the Ukrainian delegation is operating within a framework approved by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and has a clear mandate.
According to Umierov, the agenda includes security and humanitarian issues. He said the Ukrainian side is approaching the talks in a constructive manner, while cautioning against excessive expectations of immediate breakthroughs.
"Today, we are starting another round of negotiations in a trilateral format – Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
We thank the American side for its engagement and consistent work in the negotiation process. We are grateful to Switzerland for organising the meeting and providing the necessary conditions for the discussions."
