The Taliban poised to take control of Kabul sealing their complete control over Afghanistan

The Taliban on Sunday 15 August, prepared to take over the Afghan capital , Kabul, amid reports that President Ashraf Ghani had left the country, and as countries scrambled to evacuate diplomatic personnel and other citizens.

Things appeared to be moving fast over the weekend as government efforts to resist the Taliban offensive dramatically fizzled out over the weekend.

The Taliban have made a number of statements on Sunday in an effort to reassure Kabul citizens and foreign governments that they do not plan a violent takeover of the capital.

The swift advance of the Taliban has raised questions about the decision of the Biden administration to exit from the country but the US administration on Sunday insisted that leaving was the right thing to do.
