Azerbaijan marked its independence day on 28 May.
President Ilham Aliyev paid tribute at the monument of the first Republic in Baku.
Earlier the president tweeted: "Today's Azerbaijani state, the successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, has realized the dreams of our people for independence. I am confident that our independence will be sustainable and Azerbaijan's state independence will live forever."
