The forty-first session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf will be held tomorrow in Al-Ula Governorate, in Saudi Arabia.  The summit is expected to provide a real opportunity to overcome a number of challenges facing the region, the most important of which is the unity of the Gulf  states efforts to confront the pandemic and restore economic growth for the countries of the region.

Egypt signs agreements for oil and gas exploration in the Mediterranean and Red Sea

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tarek El-Molla said that the ministry reached a total of 12 agreements during the period of the coronavirus pandemic, with a minimum investment of about $1.4 billion, to drill 23 wells in nine regions in the Mediterranean and three regions in the Red Sea, pointing out that three further agreements are to be signed soon.

Kazakhstan formally abolishes the death penalty

The law “On Ratification of the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights aimed at Abolishing the Death Penalty”, was signed by president Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev  formally ending the use of the death penalty in the country. Kazakhstan declared a moratorium on the use of the death penalty in 2003.
