Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán surprises once again, appearing in China after Ukraine and Russia

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is in the Chinese capital Beijing. He is due to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing later today (8 Juli). What exactly they will talk about is not known.

It is Orbán's third surprise visit within a week. Earlier, he spoke with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Kyiv. Last Friday (5 July), Orbán was received by Russian President Putin in Moscow.

On social networking site X, Orbán posted a picture of himself being greeted at the airport by Hua Chunying. Chunying is China's vice foreign minister.

It is not known why Orbán travelled to China or what he will discuss with Xi. According to an aide to the Hungarian prime minister, 'the peace mission will be followed up'. China says "issues of mutual interest" will be discussed.
