EU High Representative Morgherini in Kuwait for Gulf talks

The European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Federica Morgherini, on Sunday (23 July) held talks in Kuwait with the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and with First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and other Kuwiaiti officials on the current crisis in the Gulf.

Morgherini's visit is seen as an expression of EU support for the efforts of the Kuwaiti Emir in trying to resolve the crisis between Qatar and some other GCC countries.

Later today, it is expected that the president of Turkey, Recip Tayip Erdogan will also visit Kuwait and other countries in the region.
