Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, and first Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, on Thursday officially inaugurated Azerbaijan's first modular hospital, built in three weeks as part of the country's response to the coronavirus pandemic. The hospital complex is spread over an area of 3,000 square meters and will function under the Clinical Medical Center Number 1.
The hospital consists of three buildings with a total of 200 beds in 100 wards for admission and treatment of infectious patients with moderate-to-severe symptoms. If necessary, the wards can be turned into intensive care units by providing them with additional equipment.
Five more modular hospital complexes are expected to be commissioned in May, and four more by mid-June. These complexes will be installed and secured near existing hospitals in designated cities and districts, which will provide integrated management and medical coordination to provide coronavirus patients with the necessary medical services.
