The Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, arrived in Tbilisi on Wednesday (26 August) at the start of a two-day official visit to Georgia. Stoltenberg was met at Tbilisi airport by Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili. During his visit Stoltenbberg is expected to meet senior Georgian officials, and visit Georgian soldiers who have served on NATO missions
The visit is seen as an expression of solidarity by the NATO alliance with Georgia, and comes as Georgian officials continue to voice hope that NATO takes further steps to prepare for Georgian membership of the alliance during its forthcoming summit in Warsaw in 2016.
