An Azerbaijani success story. President Aliev opens the new campus of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, has inaugurated the new campus of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy in Baku

The Academy is a school of international relations established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in March 2006. Its main objective is to train specialists for a diplomatic career in Azerbaijani foreign affairs and its founding rector is Dr. Hafiz Pashayev, who is a Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and a former ambassador of Azerbaijan to the United States.

The Academy, initially established to train Azerbaijani diplomats prior to their posting overseas, now receives students from all over the world. The Academy is considered a real success story for Azerbaijan, establishing a reputation for professionalism and attracting high quality students and academics. Some see this success as being due to the ability of the Academy leadership to distance themselves from negative practises common in most Azerbaijani institutions of higher education.

After opening the new campus the Azerbaijani President addressed a meeting of heads of Azerbaijani diplomatic missions overseas.
