Armenia and Azerbaijan again accused each other of violating a ceasefire agreement on Wednesday evening, though no casualties were reported.
The two sides have been sporadically trading fire over the disputed province of Nagorno-Karabakh since a deal was reached on April 5 to end four days of fierce fighting, the worst in 22 years.
The defence ministry of the self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh Republic accused Azerbaijan of using rocket launchers on the Line of Contact, as well as sniper rifles.
“Overnight May 4-5 the Azerbaijani forced continued violating the ceasefire agreement on the line of contact by firing various caliber weapons, 60mm mortars and TR-107 multiple rocket launchers,” the defence ministry said.
However, as has been typical over the past few weeks, the Azerbaijani side has made the opposite claim – that it was Armenia that violated the ceasefire overnight, with Azerbaijan only reacting proportionately.
Armenia violated the ceasefire 116 times, and Azerbaijan fired 122 strikes in response, Azerbaijan’s forces claimed on the morning of May 5.
There were no immediate reports of overnight casualties from either side.
